Thomas Biering joined A4E as a Policy Director in September 2018, where he is responsible for airports and consumers. He leads A4E’s work on issues including airport charges, slots, ground handling and air passenger rights. He was previously in charge of aviation taxes.

Thomas has expertise in public affairs and communications, advocacy campaigns and coalition management. Prior to A4E, Thomas was a Senior Manager at the political communications firm GPLUS in Brussels from 2011 to 2018, where he advised blue chip companies, including two airlines, and governments on a broad range of EU policies.

Thomas managed project teams and ran pan-European campaigns for clients on the EU’s digital, trade and transport policies as well as EU internal market regulatory issues. He also advised several companies on the Brexit negotiations.

At the beginning of his career, Thomas gained experience in a Danish diplomatic mission and in the corporate communications department of the global port and logistics company, APM Terminals.

Thomas studied Political Science and International Relations at the University of Warwick in the UK and at Columbia University in New York. A Danish national, Thomas’ second language is English. He has good knowledge of German, French, Norwegian and Swedish.
