Airspace is a finite resource. It therefore needs to be effectively managed and efficiently used.
A4E actively supports this effort across two key areas:
- A regulatory framework supporting this is of utmost importance – one that promotes digitalisation and allows the passenger, the environment, the aviation industry, and its employees to reap the benefits. The current crisis enables us to prepare for this future and build back better.
- Achieving a single European aviation market that includes a digital and seamless European airspace. Investments should be future-proof and allowed to live up to their full potential. To achieve this, A4E is working with all relevant stakeholders to overhaul the Single European Sky (SES) regulatory framework to enable the promised CO2 emissions reductions of up to 10%, in line with European Green Deal objectives. Further goals include a reduction in airspace delays and increased cost-efficiency. The updated SES regulatory framework needs to facilitate these goals by transitioning to a clear future vision and include a strengthened economic component.
