Alongside safety, security is airlines’ top priority. A4E members are working hand in hand with the European institutions to further improve aviation security in the European Union, from contributing to public consultations to supporting the review of existing legislation.
The EU already has a very strong level of aviation security measures in place, complemented by a positive security culture within the aviation industry as a whole. A4E airlines support the EU’s aviation security framework in both its strategic foresight and tactical implementation.
Key priorities:
- Continue to ensure the highest levels of aviation security in the EU;
- Contribute to the review of the European Aviation Security Strategy in 2020, supporting a holistic approach;
- Continue to engage with the European Commission and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on aviation risk assessment and Conflict Zone Information Bulletins (CZIB);
- Fully support the One Stop Security (OSS) system, which allows mutual recognition of security standards between selected third countries and the EU;
- Actively participate in the development of the EU cybersecurity policy and EASA implementation measures;
- Contribute to updated cargo security measures.
