Communications Director Airlines for Europe (A4E)
A4E is looking for a motivated and experienced Communications Director (M/F) to join its dynamic international team in Brussels. S/he will support A4E’s policy campaigns through dedicated media relations, events and communication campaigns, ensuring that A4E’s interests are effectively represented, that the association’s voice is heard and its reputation is enhanced. S/he will report to the Managing Director.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 7 years of experience.
- Excellent oral/written English; native speaker preferred. Knowledge of an additional European language is a plus.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading skills.
- Self-motivated, excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
- A track record of working with media, industry and government stakeholders and successfully developing and implementing advocacy campaigns, using multiple channels (incl. social media).
- Ability to build, maintain and leverage relationships with media and peers from the industry. An existing network is a plus.
- Knowledge of the EU public affairs process, institutions and legislative processes is a plus.
- Experience managing junior staff.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The selected candidate will:
- Work in a dynamic, diverse and international team in the heart of the EU.
- Contribute to the positive visibility and reputation of the association and the airline industry in EU media.
- Drive the strategic direction of A4E’s positioning and messaging, offering direct counsel to Managing Director and policy team.
- Liaise with the policy experts in the A4E team to design and implement communications efforts in support of policy campaigns.
- Maintain strong relationships with key media stakeholders across the EU and Member States.
- Design & lead campaigns in targeted and creative ways, through multiple channels and platforms (social media channels) an/or via traditional media.
- Manage and lead the association’s external events, media, publications (internal and external), social media channels and website management.
- Lead the A4E Communications Working Group and interact closely with members to reinforce the dissemination of A4E messages across Europe.
- Manage Communications Officer.
- Deliver in line with pre-set annual performance plan and KPIs.

Airlines for Europe (A4E) is looking for a talented and enthusiastic trainee to join our team in Brussels for a full-time policy traineeship starting in September

You will:
- Assist A4E’s policy team in planning and implementing A4E campaigns
- Help to prepare and participate in association meetings and events
- Support A4E initiatives assessing the impact of the European airline industry on connectivity, the environment and the economy
- Conduct background research and prepare analysis on relevant policy dossiers
- Monitor political and policy developments in Brussels affecting the transport sector and report to staff and members
- An academic background in European affairs, politics, international relations, law, economics or similar, and you are currently enrolled in or have just graduated from a Master’s degree programme
You have:
- General knowledge of the EU, its processes and policies
- A strong interest in aviation and the airline industry as well as in government affairs
- Solid communication skills and a desire to develop a personal network in Brussels
- Verbal & written fluency in English, and knowledge of at least one other European language (French, German or Spanish considered a plus)
- The ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, adapt to changing demands, and a hands-on mentality
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team in a multicultural environment
- Past experience in event management considered a plus
